Reading is essential in today’s world. Unfortunately many children struggle to learn to read for all sorts of reasons – 1 in 8 children in England left primary school last year behind in their reading.
ABC to read is a local charity which works with schools to help raise literacy standards. We recruit, train and offer continuing support to volunteers who provide mentoring help to Berkshire primary school children who are struggling with reading and lack confidence.
Based on our latest survey 97% of children improved in reading performance, 51% of which improved significantly and 11% made an outstanding improvement.
